Cookies, Coffee, and CASA

September 21, 2017 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Are you someone who believes that children have the right to live in a safe & nurturing home? Do you think that if given the right support a child can thrive? Have you ever considered volunteering to help children in need? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you are for the child and Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA)/Prince George’s County is looking for you!

Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA)/Prince George’s County is hosting an Information Session on September 21st from 6:00 pm in the CASA Office. At this session you will learn about what it means to be a Court Appointed Special Advocate and how you can help. Time will be given for any questions.

Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA)/Prince George’s County matches community volunteers with children living in foster care. In about 10 hours per month, CASA volunteers spend time with a child in foster care and advocate for his or her proper care and placement in a safe, permanent home.

To prepare our volunteers for their role, 37 hours of training is provided. The training consists of a total of 9 required classes as well as one day of Courtroom Observation (8:45 am – 4:00 pm) which will be offered twice during the training. A light meal will be served at each session of training.

If you are interested in volunteering, please contact us for more information by phone or email. Volunteers must be 21 or older.

Prospective volunteers must submit an application and complete phone and in-person interviews prior to training. You can also visit our website at pgcasa.org for more information and an application.
