In-Service Training Session: Sept. 28
Topic: Mindfulness
LISTEN UP, please.
Do you think your foster youth could do better in school … on the athletic field … or in life … if he or she simply paid better attention to what’s going on.
We can help. Our upcoming in-service training session is on mindfulness, which is the quality or state of being conscious or aware so that you can improve your focus and more likely succeed.
Our minds wander – constantly. Studies show that 47 percent of the time, we are thinking about something other than what we are doing. Which, in turn, makes us less happy and more stressed, less productive and more depressed.
This can be a problem, particularly if you are a foster child.
Our training session is designed to help you, help your youth.
It will be held 6-8 p.m. at the Hyattsville Municipal Building, 4310 Gallatin St., Hyattsville.
Barbra Green, a certified instructor on mindfulness who specializes in teaching at-risk children, will facilitate the discussion and distribute materials to help you engage with your youth.
Evidence about mindfulness is so strong that doctors advocate it. So do coaches who have found that athletes who engage in mindfulness perform better.
To register for our training session, contact Tom Ferraro at tferraro@pgcasa.org
Pizza and soft drinks will be served.
