CASA’s offices remain closed to visitors. The safety of the children we serve, our volunteers and our staff is of paramount importance. We have taken prudent measures to help keep people safe, while continuing to fulfill our critical mission. We have adjusted our practices and protocols to prioritize safety while still supporting our essential advocacy for children in need. As the situation is constantly evolving, we will continue to evaluate our practices and response, and our COVID-19 page will be updated to reflect the most recent information for our community. Here are CASA’s current practices:
- Phase 2 child visits (outdoors, masked, physically distanced) when both the volunteer and placement are comfortable and volunteer has signed policies
- Case Supervisors increased frequency of supervision to ensure we’re up-to-date on children’s situations and are able to address emergencies
- Activated Transitioning Youth Emergency Fund to respond to emergent needs of youth such as access to food and basic need items
- While staff are working remotely, we are utilizing video application tools for case supervision, volunteer interviews and training
- Created a COVID-19 page that is updated regularly with policies and resources
- Training new volunteers remotely to be prepared for an expected surge in cases as stay-at-home orders are lifted
