This section includes Prince George’s County government agencies as well as nonprofits that provide job-placement assistance along with: an anti-poverty national service program that pays a stipend, and a listing of area military recruiting stations.
Prince George’s County Job Centers
A partnership with local workforce development agencies. It provides a full range of assistance to job seekers. Meet with consultants to discuss career exploration, referrals to training programs, résumé preparation, and workshops. Access computers with Internet access, printers, photocopiers, fax machines, telephones, and a variety of job search resource materials.
Prince George’s American Job Center in Largo is open Monday-Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 pm. and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Maryland Multicultural Youth Center
MMYC is Maryland chapter of Latin American Youth Center, a half-century old nonprofit that assists youth with education, housing and workforce training. MMYC has offered workforce services in Prince George’s County for the past 8 years under the federal funding provided by the Workforce Investment Opportunities Act and administered by the Prince George’s County Economic Development Corporation.
MMYC serves 16-24 years old, out of school and high school graduates. It provides 21 hours of job readiness training, which then makes participant eligible for an 8-week paid-internship. Interns meet with a job developer, who will work with them to identify their skills, produce a resume, hone their interviewing skills, and link them to job opportunities. The program also offers GED classes for out of school youth. The GED sessions are scheduled for 4 days a week.

JOBS CORPS
A free education and training program that helps young people learn a career, earn a high school diploma or GED, and find and keep a good job. For eligible young people, at least 16 years of age that qualify as low income, Job Corps provides the all-around skills needed to succeed in a career and in life.

Corporation of National Service: AmeriCorps
Sign up for a year of service in national anti-poverty program known as the “Domestic Peace Corps.” There are many programs that are available that provide employment training and experience. While AmeriCorps Members do not receive a salary, they are paid a “stipend,” which is 105 percent of the poverty rate in the service area. Year of service provides educational award and advantage in applying for a federal job upon completion of service year.

Sowing Empowerment & Economic Development, Inc. (SEED)
A health and human services agency that provides food, clothing, education, and training, while promoting self-sufficiency and empowerment, to low- to moderate-income families. SEED operates an emergency food distribution center and clothes closet, a K-8 public charter school, and a before and after school tutoring program, and is also a HUD-approved housing counseling agency.
