Foster Youth are particularly vulnerable to human trafficking. This webinar will provide a basic overview of what is human trafficking, why Maryland is an attractive destination for traffickers, victims’ characteristics and what makes them vulnerable, pimp recruiting, and runaway children. We will also discuss the need for survivors of sex trafficking to get the help that they need.
About the Presenter:
Thomas Stack is the Human Trafficking Policy Analyst for the Governor’s Office of Crime Control and Prevention, where he oversees efforts to combat human trafficking in the State of Maryland. He is a member of the Safe Harbor Workgroup to study Safe Harbor policy for Child Sex Trafficking Victims, conducts Law Enforcement trainings throughout the State, and develops human trafficking policy. Detective Stack has more than 26 years of experience in law enforcement, including 14 years in the Vice and Intelligence Unit. He has guest lectured at several Universities, for the United States Civil Rights Commission and numerous citizen groups and has testified before the Maryland House of Delegates and Senate on prostitution and Human Trafficking. He is a human trafficking consultant for the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and has been recognized as an expert in prostitution investigations by the Circuit Court and District Court of Maryland.
